Lady in red! There is no color more alluring than red. Red brings out your inner fire without compromising your beauty.  Red is a powerful color so be warned it causing extreme confidence. Every woman should own a red dress.

I made this dress with a rich colored polyester spandex fabric and used tulle for the overlay.  I added the tulle overlay to really make this dress pop.  I hope you guys love this dress as much as I do. I bought 1 1/2 yards of this rich colored polyester spandex.

Sheer fabric for the overlay, I bought 2 yards.

I used draping tape to create the design for the bodice on my dress form. I used 1 yard of muslin for the bodice. I then traced the draping tape with a sharpie.

Draped pattern pieces.

Front and back pattern pieces traced onto paper.

Separated the pattern pieces.

Added .5″ seam allowance to each pattern pieces. I did this 2x so that I could make a lining.

Cut 4 of each pattern piece.

Looks pretty good.

Waistband and shoulder straps.

Used a skirt I already had as the pattern for the skirt portion of the dress.

All the pieces ready to be sewn together.

Folded the sheer fabric in half and cut it to make 2 panels.

Made a gathering stitch and gathered the top.

I then made 2 circular ruffles to adorn the bottom of the overlay skirt.

Cut the circular fabric and it will become a long ruffle.

Sew the ruffle to the bottom of the sheer panel. Sew one on the front panel and one on the back panel.
