#OOTD Turtleneck High Low Maxi Dress

I’m a true sucker for maxi dresses and I love designing and making them. I made this dress by draping the top on my dress form with muslin. I then traced the muslin on  paper and added an half inch seam allowance to each pattern piece. After adding the seam allowance I was able true-up the pattern measurements by making sure the pattern pieces were equal my body measurements. Once the measurements were intact I then laid out my pattern pieces and cut the fabric.

There are two parts to this skirt, a long overlay that falls from the lower waist & a short under skirt.  I made the under skirt by taking my waist measurement first and then taking the length from my waist to my mid thigh. For the skirt overlay I measured down from my lower waist to my ankles.  I then attached the top to both skirts and hemmed the skirts.

I absolutely love this dress!

For this project you’ll need:

2 yards of jersey fabric
thread
scissors
chalk
rulers
muslin
a roll of paper

After I finished the design, I used muslin to create my pattern pieces.
