Off Shoulder Dress w/ Bottom Ruffle

Summer is almost here so, it’s time to get the summer wardrobe poppin’.  Poppin’ with color that is. I designed this dress and I just love it.  It’s fun, colorful and cute.  You can’t go wrong with that!  I used a ponte knit fabric for this design.  I wanted a short dress because I’ve made so many long skirts in the past.  Sometimes, you have to switch it up. This design is an off the shoulder dress with shoulder straps and the skirt portion is mini. I added a ruffle to the bottom to make it sassy.

This dress was pretty simple, I used 1.5 yards of fabric and a zipper to make it. I made the top from a bodice pattern I had previously draped and drafted for myself. As for the skirt, I drafted it on paper.  Check out the pics below and let me know what you guys think.  To see more DIY dress ideas click –> dress to see a stunning backless dress designed by me!

Fold the fabric into quarters, use the tape measure and the chalk to make markings for the ruffle.

Cut into the circle to make it one long strip. This will be sewn to the bottom of the dress.
